Injury to Sub 2 Hour Half Marathon: How I Did It
As a runner, injuries can be a frustrating setback, and I've had my fair share. In just three years, I suffered from four injuries, including a hip injury that took me out of commission for a few months. However, with the Detroit Free Press Marathon on the horizon, I decided to give it another shot.
Returning to Running After Injury
I began marathon training today after once again going through physical therapy for a running injury. It was extremely tough mentally and physically, but I’m back to it and eager to stay injury free.
How the Pandemic & Injury Changed My Outlook on Running
Being injured this time really changed my perspective about running. I don’t know if it’s the 18+ months of no racing or two injuries over the past year, but I really don’t feel the same way that I used to about running. At least for the time being, running has now become something that I like to do because it makes me feel good.
Injury Report: April 2021
I’m sitting in the doctor’s office, waiting for my diagnosis. My heart is pounding and I can feel my face is hot and red. I rub my hands together, then on my shorts, to wipe the sweat away. I take a few deep breaths, in hopes to calm myself down.
The 4 Things My PT Scolded Me For Not Doing
I just finished up 6 weeks of physical therapy and while I was there, I got scolded for a few things. Not having access to trainers daily has been one of my biggest struggles post-collegiately.
