Where it all began
I am so excited to share my little space of the Internet with you. I wanted to create this space to share my running journey and tips and tricks along the way, in hopes of inspiring you to continue getting out the door.
my journey
I’ve been running for 8 years competitively and started running when I was one. My parents were runners, and still are, so they threw me into running at an early age. I ran my first mile race when I was four and my first 5k when I was eight. That same year I won the first CRIM Kids Invitational, starting my fire for competition. In high school, I joined the cross country team to get in shape for basketball season, but somehow I fell in love with it and wanted to run in college. After a lot of hard work, I signed my life away to Northwood University on my 18th birthday, where I had the amazing opportunity to run for five years.
I learned a lot during my time at Northwood, and a lot has changed since then, but the one thing that has always remained is my desire for competition. When graduation started creeping closer in January 2019, I was nervous that if I did not sign up for something big, I’d stop running and “get fat.” So I singed up for a fall marathon. I ran my first marathon in October 2019. Training for that marathon was a huge learning curve for me. I pushed my body to its limits and found a new confidence that I never had before.
Running and training post-collegiately is so weird and I’m still getting used to it. I really don’t like being all on my own. I miss my teammates and all of the fun times we had going to meets and competing.
so, what’s next?
I honestly have no clue. I know that I will run another marathon or two, but I’m not sure if those are for me. Right now I’m just trying to get through this global pandemic. Hitting my 5k goal would mean so much more to me than any marathon medal ever could, so I want to work towards that this year. I’m still figuring it out and I hope you follow along as I write about and capture my journey!
